St. John’s has been privileged to have a junior hand bell choir since 2000.  The choir is comprised of students in our 7th and 8th grades.  We do not have formal ‘tryouts,’ if more than eleven students wish to join the junior hand bell choir we will give preference to those who already know how to read music.

The junior hand bell choir rehearses once a week for 30 minutes.  In addition, the students are responsible for taking care of our 3-octave set of Malmark handbells.  This includes setting up, cleaning, polishing, and putting away these wonderful musical instruments.

Hand bell choir is a great learning experience for students in this age group, but it requires patience, concentration, and commitment from the members.  If you would like more information about the Junior Hand Bell choir, please contact Kristi Meyer or the school office.
