Dear Friends in Christ, Moses did it on one mountain.  Peter, James and John did it on another.  But they all did it.  In a glorious and unmistakable way, they all stood in the very presence of God.  It must have been remarkable for them. Equally remarkable for us is this:  We will one day do the same.  We will one day stand in the very presence of God as did Moses and the disciples. And possibly even more remarkable is the fact that in a very real sense this is already happening right now.

What is wrong with our country today?  What is wrong with your workplace, or your school?  What is wrong with your marriage, or your family?  What is wrong with your life?  For any of those questions, we don’t have to think too long to come up with some kind of answer.  We have a whole lot of opportunities as we go through life to find the flaws all around us—to identify what is wrong with our world.

What am I doing with my life?  That’s a question that we have to ask ourselves from time to time.  What am I doing with my life?  What does the future hold?  If you’re a student, chances are someone has asked you that question somewhat recently, perhaps if you’re in high school or college someone has asked you that far more frequently than you’d care to talk about.  As an adult, maybe you’ve asked yourself that question at one of the major transitions in life – at your marriage, starting a new career, when you kids move out, at your retirement, or during the hard times in life – an illness or the loss of a loved one.  What am I doing with my life?  What’s next?  Or maybe it’s not even a transitional time in life, but “what am I going to do with my life” has become “what am I doing with my life” because you feel like you’re in a bit of a rut.

Dear Friends in Christ, Maybe it was a deliberate sit-down parent-to-child talk, perhaps on the subject of peer pressure.  Maybe its importance was conveyed without any words at all; just something we picked up on our own as we observed how those we respected conducted themselves.  Or maybe its weight was impressed upon us because of its failing either in our lives or the lives of others…
