Two Good Things That Happened in August

1. Our students and faculty members came back together to begin another school year. With 154 students in grades K5-8th and 81 students in our Early Learning Center, we are blessed with many opportunities every day to share the good news about Jesus!

2. Our Girl and Boy Pioneer groups began their year with a pizza party. Pioneers meets on Tuesday evenings (twice a month), and we're looking forward to lots of exciting activities this year! Pioneers is open to students in grades K5-8th, and it's not too late to register. Click here to sign up.

Three Good Things That Will Happen in August

1. We'll kick off another school year. School starts on Tuesday, August 23, with our Back-to-School night on Sunday, August 21, at 6:00 p.m. We hope our students, staff, and faculty members enjoyed their summers, and we're excited to welcome everyone back for another year!

2. Our summer childcare program will wrap up another successful stint. With themes like "Holiday Hoopla" and "Splashtacular," it was a fantastic summer! We'll close for a couple of days later in August and then start up fresh with our Early Learning Center and after-school care.

3. Planning will begin for our annual Unity Sunday service. After a two-year hiatus, we'll return to our "traditional" Unity Sunday format: a single worship service in our school gym. Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 11, at 9:00 a.m., and watch for more information in a special mailing coming soon.

Two Good Things That Happened in July

1. Our teens returned from their mission trip to Living Promise Lutheran Church in Morristown, TN. The Sunday after we were there, Living Promise welcomed three new visiting families: two as a result of VBS and one from the canvassing we did. What an amazing blessing!

2. We held two open forums and conducted an online study for our potential campus expansion project. Check out Pastor Leyrer's lead article in the Lamplighter (arriving later this month) for more information, and please keep this potential project in your prayers.

Three Good Things That Will Happen in July

1. We will hold several open forums to discuss our potential campus expansion. Check out the display boards this weekend in the church narthex, and then join us at an open forum for more details. Open forums will be held on Sunday, July 10, at 9:15 a.m. (also broadcast online) and Tuesday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m.

2. Our teens will head out for their annual mission trip. This year's trip departs bright and early on Saturday, July 9, and takes us back to Living Promise Lutheran Church in Morristown, TN. Please keep our teens and chaperones in your prayers as they travel, help out with VBS, canvass, and have some fun along the way!

3. Our Board of Outreach will represent St. John's at the Tosa Farmers Market on Saturday, July 23. This is a great opportunity to connect with people who might otherwise never step foot in our church. If you're heading to the Farmers Market, stop by school to grab a free bottle of water and St. John's bag - and just to say hi!
