Three Good Things That Will Happen in December

1. We will come together for midweek Advent services. These devotional services, held on Wednesdays at 3:30 & 6:45 p.m., give us the opportunity to prepare our hearts for the birth of our Savior. Fellowship meals between services will also be held again this year.

2. We will host Advent by Candlelight on Sunday, December 5. After an online-only event last year, we're excited to come together again this year in word and song to usher in the Advent season. If you aren't able to attend in person, you can join us virtually at www.sjtosa.org/ABC.

3. We will celebrate our Savior's birth through a variety of worship opportunities: our grade-school Christmas Eve service, our traditional Lessons & Carols service, and festival worship on Christmas Day. Click here for a full listing of holiday worship opportunities.

Three Good Things That Will Happen in October

1. We will celebrate 40 years in the ministry for Pastor Joel Leyrer. Pastor Leyrer has served at St. John's since 1998, and we are blessed to be able to celebrate this milestone with him. Please join us for a celebratory worship service on Sunday, October 3, at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow.

2. We will begin our emphasis on "A God-Lived Life." Along with congregations across the WELS, we'll be considering ways in which we can demonstrate what God looks like in how we live our lives. Over the next five months, we'll be talking about various aspects of a God-lived life. Up first: we'll focus on the life of being a disciple in this weekend's services.

3. Two of our popular school events will return! All church and school families are invited to join us from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 24, for Fall Festival featuring trunk or treat. And families with children K2 - 1st grade (and their siblings) are invited to join us from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, for Bedtime Blessings (click here to register). Hope to see you there!

Three Good Things That Will Happen in July

1. We will transition into our second summer Bible study. Led by Rev. Dr. Joel Pless of Wisconsin Lutheran College, this study will study all of the major Old Testament prophecies about Jesus Christ. Please join us at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings from July 11 - August 15.

2. We will celebrate a Christian Victory Memorial Service for Lillian Gerlach, wife of former St. John's Pastor Joel Gerlach. Lil was called home in December 2020, and COVID-related restrictions postponed the service. Please join us on Saturday, July 10, with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. and the service at 3:00 p.m.

3. Our teens and chaperones will embark on our annual mission trip from July 11-18. This year, we'll be putting on a Science Camp at Living Promise Lutheran Church in Morristown, TN. Please keep everyone involved in mission trip in your prayers, and keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates!

Two Good Things That Happened in June

1. We introduced our new Connection Cards. Although we haven't resumed passing the Friendship Register yet, we still wanted to give those worshiping with us - whether in-person or virtually - the opportunity to leave a record of their worship. Connection Cards are also available online by clicking here.

2. We kicked off our summer childcare program. Themed around "The Ocean," this high-quality program offers an affordable option for families - both from St. John's and from the community. We've been having a fun-filled summer so far!
