K2 Painting Work Night

Monday, July 18
Please help us put the final touches on the K2 classrooms that are being renovated for next school year! We’ll be painting both classrooms from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. with a possible second work night if needed on Thursday, July 21, also from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. We will have supplies available, but feel free to bring your own (rollers, paint brushes, drop cloths, painting trays, paint sprayers, etc.) if you have them. We’re so excited to be nearing the end of this renovation project! Click here to contact Rachel Wendland if you can help out so we can plan accordingly for supplies.

Potential Campus Expansion Open Forums & Online Survey

Over the past several months, our Campus Expansion Committee has been hard at work evaluating facility needs in light of our ongoing Gospel ministry and considering plans for how these needs can best be met. Please plan to join us for an open forum on Sunday, July 10, at 9:15 a.m. or Tuesday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m. as we take a detailed look at the proposed campus expansion plans and estimated costs. We’ll also allocate time for your questions about the project.
Following the open forums, an online survey will be available from Sunday, July 17, through Sunday, July 24, for you to share your thoughts and feedback on this potential campus expansion. For more information and an online broadcast (live or archived) of Sunday’s presentation, visit

Three Good Things That Will Happen in July

1. We will hold several open forums to discuss our potential campus expansion. Check out the display boards this weekend in the church narthex, and then join us at an open forum for more details. Open forums will be held on Sunday, July 10, at 9:15 a.m. (also broadcast online) and Tuesday, July 12, at 6:30 p.m.

2. Our teens will head out for their annual mission trip. This year's trip departs bright and early on Saturday, July 9, and takes us back to Living Promise Lutheran Church in Morristown, TN. Please keep our teens and chaperones in your prayers as they travel, help out with VBS, canvass, and have some fun along the way!

3. Our Board of Outreach will represent St. John's at the Tosa Farmers Market on Saturday, July 23. This is a great opportunity to connect with people who might otherwise never step foot in our church. If you're heading to the Farmers Market, stop by school to grab a free bottle of water and St. John's bag - and just to say hi!

Two Good Things That Happened in June

1. We began the non-festival half of the church year. After a focus on the life of Christ from Advent through Pentecost, we've now shifted our focus to the life of the Christian. The parament (altar decoration) color changes and special liturgies might not be as frequent, but this season is no less important for our spiritual lives.

2. The work of our Rooted & Mowing team kicked into high gear with planting, lawn mowing, weeding, mulching, and more. Rooted & Mowing is especially looking for teens and adults who can help with weeding and watering this summer. Sign up for a week (or more!) and then come anytime during that week. Click here for more details or to sign up.

One Good Thing That You Might Not Know About

1. Renovations on our K2 classrooms are well underway! Due to overwhelming demand, we'll be expanding to two K2 classrooms next year, which is a wonderful outreach opportunity. However, we still need your help to fund these renovations as well as purchase new furniture, toys, and other supplies. Click here for more information and to donate.
