Parents' Night Out - Saturday, February 11

Take your valentine sweetheart for a night out on the town or perhaps a romantic dinner at home on Saturday, February 11, while we watch your kids! Once again, the teens of St. John's will provide supervised childcare from 5:00-9:00 PM. A free will offering will be taken for the summer youth mission trip. Parents, please register each child who will attend here. Teens may also go to this page to sign-up and earn mission points by volunteering from 4:30-9:30 PM.

Summer Childcare

It’s winter outside but we are thinking summer in childcare!  We are working hard on our St. John’s Summer Childcare theme: “Joy, Fun, Seasons in the Sun”.  We will be trick or treating, playing in the “snow”, camping, planting gardens, having pajama parties and so much more! We offer our summer childcare to ages 2 yrs. Father-Daughter Dance

St. John's CES will host a Father/Daughter Dance from 6:30-8:30 PM on Friday, February 3. To make this event special, parent and teen volunteers are needed from 6:00-9:00 PM to help with set-up, clean-up, serving refreshments and crafts. New Bible Information Class Begins Soon!

Are you looking for an opportunity to introduce a friend to the basic teachings of the Bible? Would you like to refresh your own spiritual knowledge? Those who complete our Bible Information Class will know more about the Bible than 95% of Americans – what an opportunity to grow in faith and knowledge! This course provides a general overview of the Bible, touches upon every major Christian doctrine, and supplies a solid understanding of what we confess and believe as a confessional Lutheran Church. Since it provides the foundation for a deeper relationship with God, we encourage both members and non-members to attend. School Open House

Have you thought about sending your child(ren) to St. John's? Parents with children who will be 3, 4 or 5 by September 1, 2017 are invited to visit the school and meet the staff on Sunday, February 5 from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM. Though this Open House is geared toward families with younger children, it is also the perfect time for potential students in any grade to visit and gather information about St. John’s educational programs.

Following the Open House, a Parent Orientation meeting for parents who have expressed an interest in enrolling their child in our K5 Kindergarten program, and have not previously attended this meeting, will be held at 1:30 PM in the school Lecture Room. Third Thursday Concert

Join us for “Brahms to Barber” on Thursday, January 20th beginning at 12:15 PM. Kiara Ristow and Lynn Kozlowski will play solos and duets for piano and organ. Special music will include Barber’s famous “Adagio for Strings” arr. for organ and “Dolly Suite” by Gabriel Faure for piano duet. A free-will offering will be taken for music programs at St. John's. All are welcome to attend!

Voters' Call Meeting

Monday, January 16 – St. John’s will hold a voters’ meeting at 6:30 PM to call a teacher for the lower middle grades at St. John’s school beginning with the 2017-18 school year. This position will replace Mrs. Campbell who will be moving with her family to Indianapolis. All voters and interested members of our congregation are encouraged to attend.

WLC Jazz Festival

Seven high school jazz ensembles will present a free concert in Wisconsin Lutheran College's Center for Arts and Performance - Schwan Concert Hall beginning at 7:00 PM on Saturday, January 21. The concert will feature the artistry of Chris Vadala, former featured saxophonist with Chuck Mangione and currently head of Jazz Studies and saxophone professor at the University of Maryland. High schools participating in the festival are Fox Valley Lutheran, Kettle Moraine Lutheran, Lakeside Lutheran, St. Croix (Minnesota) Lutheran, Waukesha South, Wisconsin Academy of Music, and Wisconsin Lutheran. Call the Box Office at 414.443.8802 to reserve free general admission tickets.

Friends in Fellowship

Due to the weather forecast, the Friends in Fellowship meeting on Tuesday, January 10 has been cancelled. We will resume with our regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 7. We look forward to seeing you then!
