Congregational Open Forum

Thursday, November 3
This fall, an ad hoc committee has been studying the possibility of St. John’s School entering the Wisconsin and/or Milwaukee School Choice programs. Please join us for a congregational open forum at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall as the committee presents information on the program and its potential benefits for St. John’s School. There will also be time for attendees to ask any questions related to our possible participation in the school choice program. The open forum will be broadcast online for those unable to attend.

Rooted & Mowing Fall Clean-Up

Sunday, October 30
Help us get the gardens at church and school put to bed for the winter! We will be doing fall cleanup work from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Please bring garden gloves and hand pruners or clippers; rakes will be provided. Tasks include cleaning out garden beds, raking leaves, and storing garden equipment for the season. Teens, this is a great opportunity to earn mission trip hours! Congregational Meeting Recap

At our October 13 congregational meeting, our voters approved entering into a capital campaign for the following purposes:
• Increasing Early Learning Center (ELC) space for our growing program.
• Increasing educational space at school.
• Expanding parking space at church.
• Expanding and making improvements to the church narthex and office areas.
Please pray for God’s guidance and direction as this campaign unfolds in the weeks and months ahead, and watch for more information coming soon.

Choral Fest Lunch Donations

Sunday, November 6
St. John’s is privileged to host the students from Arizona Lutheran Academy while they are in Wisconsin for the Choral Festival held at WLHS the weekend of November 4-6.  They will be singing for our 10:30 service on Sunday, November 6, and we will provide a lunch for them following the service. Items are needed for the lunch; please click here to sign up. Donations should be brought to the school kitchen by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, November 4.

Bedtime Blessings

Wednesday, October 26
St. John’s families with students in K2 – 1st grade, our Mornings with Mommy families, and their siblings are invited to our Bedtime Blessings event from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.! We have a fun night planned with art, music & movement, crafts, story time, a devotion, and snack. Parents will have a chance to browse and purchase family devotional material from Northwestern Publishing House, and children can come dressed for bedtime. To help us plan accordingly, please click here to RSVP by Wednesday, October 19.

Congregational Meeting

Thursday, October 13
At this dual-purpose meeting, we’ll present our voters with a recommendation from the Church Council regarding a potential capital campaign and campus expansion. We’ll also be calling for two teachers to start in Fall 2023: an upper-grade math and technology teacher and an additional K3 teacher. Please plan to join us at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Council Project of the Month: WELS Home Missions

WELS is launching a new initiative: to plant 100 new home mission churches and enhance 75 existing ministries from 2023-2033. Our church body is committed to this bold effort to share the love of Jesus in places where there may not be a WELS church yet. To contribute, please click here.

New Bible Study

Beginning Sunday, October 9
This morning, we welcome Rev. Forrest Bivens, retired Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary professor, as he begins a five-week study of “Hey! Micah is Talking to Us!” What we observe today was also seen by Micah from Moresheth: expressions of idolatry, inequities between social classes, and invasions by foreign powers. Micah was called by God to address these issues in clear language. It is our privilege to listen to his voice and regard his testimony as nothing less than the words of God being applied to that situation—and our own. Click here for class materials and video.
