December 2015

Financial Peace University

Beginning Thursday, January 14 at 6:30 PM, we will again offer Financial Peace University classes at St. John’s. The classes will consist of watching a 45-60 minute DVD on a variety of topics including savings, budgeting, debt retirement, etc. Each session will conclude with some group discussion questions and yes…homework. This is not a get rich quick scheme or an inducement to a particular investment. It is rather a biblically based look at how we manage the dollars that God sends our way. We strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity like many other members have already done. Cost for materials is $93. Scholarships are available for St. John’s members in need of assistance. Click here to register online. For more information, click here to email Mark Naumann or click here to email Larry Totsky.

Merry Christmas!

On this day, it is our prayer that you may praise God along with us for his precious Son.  He entered our world with a singular purpose: to rescue us from slavery to sin.  As the King from heaven came down to earth, he broke death’s grip on our eternity.  By faith in him, we are free from the fear of the grave.  We can be certain of our future.  Our confidence lies not in our own good works, but in his manger stall.  He alone, as God made man, opens the door to heaven for us. Blessings on your Christmas!

Youth Group Sledding

St. John’s youth in grades 8 and up are invited for sledding, games and hot chocolate & soup on December 29. Catch up with your friends who are home for Christmas break and have some fun while doing it! Bring your warm clothes, sleds, tubes, or boards and join us for a few hours of fun. We'll meet at church at 1:00 PM and then head over to Dewey Hill. After sledding, we'll head back to church for hot chocolate, soup, games, and general festivity. If there's no snow, we'll still get together to have some fun. Feel free to bring a friend! Please RSVP to Pastor Bitter or Lisa Thompson by December 27.
