Friends In Fellowship

At 12:45 p.m. Our Guest Presenter:  Kevin Festerling from Kingdom Prep Lutheran High School (our February Council Project) will tell us about KPLH's history, first year of operation, and future plans.

Kingdom Prep Lutheran High School (KPLH) is a WELS affiliated all-boys school in Wauwatosa. KLPH strives to prepare young men to develop their God-given gifts to lead in the home, serve the Church, engage in meaningful work, and transform the community.

Host Request MLC Choir Concert

Saturday, March 9

In place of our regular Saturday evening English and Chinese services, St. John's welcomes the MLC Choir on their spring tour at 7:00 p.m. MLC, the WELS college of ministry, trains pastors, teachers, and staff ministers for service.

St. John's will host the college choir overnight Saturday to Sunday morning. If you are willing to host a student, please email Pastor Bitter at kyle.bitter@sjtosa.org or signup at www.sjtosa.org/MLCChoir or on the sheet in the Narthex. Hosts are not expected to provide meals, but a light snack or a quick breakfast may be appreciated.

Mornings With Mommy Spring Session

Mornings with Mommy
Spring Session begins Wednesday, March 13

Parents or caregivers are invited to bring their infants, toddlers or preschoolers to this program in St. John’s K3 classroom on Wednesdays from 8:15 – 9:45 a.m. The cost is $35/family for the 8-week session or $5/week. Invite your friends and neighbors with young children.

Congregational Open Forum

Sunday, February 24

As reported at the January 27 State of the Parish presentation, the Executive Board and Church Council have discussed and endorsed the idea of expanding our ministry team through the addition of a Staff Ministry position. The main components envisioned in this position are: 1) communications and media oversight, 2) worship coordination, 3) volunteer coordination, and 4) women’s ministry. All members are invited and encouraged to attend an open forum at 11:45 a.m. (following the late service) where we will share more details, answer questions, and gather congregational feedback as we consider moving forward with this position.

Voter's Call Meeting

Mr. Paul Frisque has returned our call.  A special voters’ meeting for the purpose of calling a fifth grade teacher is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26 in the Fellowship Hall.  All voters and interested parties are encouraged to attend.

Third Thursday Noontime Concert

Thursday, February 21

"Do, Re, Meow" Lynn Kozlowski and Naomi Hathaway have planned an interesting variety of flute, piano, and vocal music for 12:15 p.m. here at St. John's.  Included are several opera arias, flute solos by Bach and jazz composer Claude Bolling, and show tunes from "Cats" and "Sound of Music." Concerts are Free and open to all.

The Judges and Their Times

Sundays through April 14
This class, taught by Rev. Dr. John Lawrenz in the Fellowship Hall, explores the spiritual fabric of ancient Israel during the time of the judges. Three hundred years after Moses and Joshua, the people wanted a king like the nations around them. Again and again the people forsook God their king to follow other gods. God sent enemies to humble the nation, and then he sent saviors called judges. For a time these judges brought rest, but their quality and effectiveness declined until there was no longer true rest. The period ends with the Lord keeping his promises to Abraham nevertheless.  The Lord gave Israel King David, a man after God's own heart. To David the Lord promised the greatest king of all, the God/man Jesus.
