May Council Project - St. John's Teen Mission Trip

Help support St. John’s teens as they assist with outreach and Science Camp at Illumine Church in Rock Hill, SC, and with Soccer Camp at Cross of Life in Toronto, Canada this summer. Food Pantry

May 5-6 Weekend – The food you donate is delivered to Christ Lutheran in Milwaukee. Every month their food pantry serves about 45 families with food, clothing, and a Bible study in English or Spanish. Some families are either needy members of their church or prospects in their multi-cultural neighborhood. You ARE making a difference in someone's life when you bring in your donations. Track & Field Volunteers Needed

Saturday, May 12 – St. John’s hosts an annual grade school track & field invitational at WLC’s outdoor athletic complex. Volunteers are needed from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm to make this event run smoothly, by helping with timing, measuring, recording, starting, etc. Most of these things don’t require much “track experience” – all that is needed is a desire to help and a willingness to learn. If you would like to get involved in this event, contact David Leyrer.

Public Examination of Confirmands

Thursday, April 26 – Congregation members are invited to support and encourage our 2018 Confirmation class as they share what they have learned in their years of biblical instruction. These students will demonstrate their readiness for confirmation as they answer questions from Luther’s Catechism, providing a review of the Christian faith for all in attendance. Service begins at 6:45 pm.

Dinner & A Show

Friday, May 4 – You are invited to dine in the school parking lot, at 5:00 pm, at the Double B’s BBQ truck (in case of inclement weather food will be served in the Fellowship Hall). Proceeds benefit CES. Afterward, join us for the school musical, “Snow White and the Friendly Dwarfs”. Enjoy some entertaining twists of this traditional fairy tale with toe-tapping musical numbers presented by the St. John’s students from grades 6 – 8 in our school gym at 6:30 pm. You are also welcomed to watch the dress rehearsal at 9:30 am.

"Children's Songs"

Thursday, April 19 – This month’s Third Thursday Concert will feature St. John's Junior Choir performing a 45-minute choral concert, accompanied by their director, Mandy Treder, on organ. Concerts are free, open to the public and begin at 12:15 pm in the church sanctuary. Congregation members, parents, grandparents, relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.

Garden Spring Clean Up

Saturday, April 21 – It’s spring clean-up time for the garden! Please consider joining the Rooted & Mowing team from 1:30 – 3:30 pm. We will clean out leaves from the garden beds, trim perennials and prune shrub roses. This is a great way for teens and new members to get involved. Christian Estate Planning

Sunday, April 15 – WELS Christian giving counselor Rick Kneser will present a Christian estate planning seminar at 9:15 am in the Fellowship Hall. Covered topics will include wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and more. Proper planning gives adults of all ages peace of mind, minimizes taxes and provides for loved ones—sometimes through an income for life for you or your heirs, and can also support the Lord’s work. Wisco Witnesses in the World

April Council Project of the Month Wisconsin Lutheran High School will embark on exciting mission outreach projects this summer. The students do everything from conducting vacation bible school and sports camps to canvassing, teaching English and various other service projects.
