Listen to familiar hymns including Amazing Grace, On Eagles Wings, Beautiful Savior and Praise to the Lord the Almighty. The program will include two Paul Manz compositions and an arrangement of Highland Cathedral. The Wisconsin Lutheran College Concert Band, under the direction of Prof. Terry S. Treuden, will kick off its 2016 Mountains, Mesas, and Music Tour with a home concert on Friday, May 13th at 7:30 PM in the Schwan Concert Hall. Keep reading for more information...

The WLC Concert Band's 2016 tour program will open with Red Rocks Fanfare by composer John Bogenschutz, which captures the beauty and grandeur of Colorado in an exciting fanfare. The program will continue with Three Folk Song Settings for Band by Andrew Boysen Jr., which is comprised of three songs: Poor Wayfaring Stranger, All the Pretty Little Horses, and Scarborough Fair. The second half of the program will feature Folk Dances by Dmitri Shostakovich, and The Symphonic Duke, a stunning arrangement of some of the Duke Ellington Orchestra's biggest hits such as Satin Doll, Mood Indigo, and Take the “A” Train. The program will conclude with John Philip Sousa's Esprit de Corps March.

The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the college's Center for Arts and Performance, 8815 W. Wisconsin Ave. The home concert is free, but seats need to be reserved through the Box Office by calling 414.443.8802 or visiting in person. All other tour concerts are free and open to the public.

Have you thought about ushering at St. John's? On Saturday May 14^th from 9:00-10:30 AM, the Worship and Services Committee of the Board of Elders will host an Usher Training Session. This will be a refresher course for both new and experienced ushers regarding protocols for serving as an usher at St. John's. All current and aspiring ushers are encouraged to attend. There will be a riveting presentation and plenty of donuts!
