Third Thursday Concert

Please join us on Thursday, May 19th at 12:15 PM for our 83rd Third Thursday Concert. The concert, titled "Encore" is a program of "people pleasers” with organist Lynn Kozlowski and trumpeter Adam Sipe. Listen to familiar hymns including Amazing Grace, On Eagles WingsBeautiful Savior and Praise to the Lord the Almighty. The program will include two Paul Manz compositions and an arrangement of Highland Cathedral. Adam & Lynn will also swing on three spirituals. We hope you will be able to come to this final Third Thursday Concert of the season.

Piano Recital

Come and enjoy the God-given talents of St. John's piano students tonight at 6:00 PM in the church. The students in Mrs. Bauer's class will perform a variety of solo and duet pieces during the evening. Music will include Christian and secular pieces.

WLC Band Concert

The Wisconsin Lutheran College Concert Band, under the direction of Prof. Terry S. Treuden, will kick off its 2016 Mountains, Mesas, and Music Tour with a home concert on Friday, May 13th at 7:30 PM in the Schwan Concert Hall. Keep reading for more information...

The WLC Concert Band's 2016 tour program will open with Red Rocks Fanfare by composer John Bogenschutz, which captures the beauty and grandeur of Colorado in an exciting fanfare. The program will continue with Three Folk Song Settings for Band by Andrew Boysen Jr., which is comprised of three songs: Poor Wayfaring Stranger, All the Pretty Little Horses, and Scarborough Fair. The second half of the program will feature Folk Dances by Dmitri Shostakovich, and The Symphonic Duke, a stunning arrangement of some of the Duke Ellington Orchestra's biggest hits such as Satin DollMood Indigo, and Take the “A” Train. The program will conclude with John Philip Sousa's Esprit de Corps March.

The Schwan Concert Hall is located in the college's Center for Arts and Performance, 8815 W. Wisconsin Ave. The home concert is free, but seats need to be reserved through the Box Office by calling 414.443.8802 or visiting in person. All other tour concerts are free and open to the public.

Tiny Steps Big Hearts 2-Mile Walk

Bring your family and friends for a fun, family-oriented 2-mile walk through a scenic course at Hart Park on Saturday, June 11th from 8:00 - 11:00 AM. All proceeds will benefit New Beginnings: A Home for Mothers. Cost is free! Each walker who donates $20 receives an event t-shirt. Raise more for a chance to win prizes! This is a great family outing. Create a team or walk alone. Enjoy music, a photo booth, face painting, balloon animals and coloring. Snacks and refreshments will also be available. Volunteer: We need volunteers for everything from registration to handing out refreshments. If you or your group have an interest in volunteering, we would greatly appreciate the assistance. Click here to volunteer on walk day!

Weather/Refund Policy: The event will be held rain or shine unless severe weather occurs. In the event of severe weather, the walk coordinator may delay or cancel the event. If the event is canceled, there will be NO refunds.

The vision of New Beginnings is to provide generationally poor, single mothers with the necessary opportunities and resources to facilitate self-sufficiency. Our ministry enables a single mother to live away from cultural influences and nurture her baby in a positive environment. Lau Student Tuition Assistance

Student tuition assistance to St. John’s School, Wisconsin Lutheran High School and Wisconsin Lutheran College is available to St. John’s members through our Lau Fund. Click here for an application or pick up a paper copy in the church narthex or outside the school office. These applications require copies of tax records. Completed applications are due back to the church or school office by June 30, 2016.

Usher Meeting

Have you thought about ushering at St. John's? On Saturday May 14th from 9:00-10:30 AM, the Worship and Services Committee of the Board of Elders will host an Usher Training Session. This will be a refresher course for both new and experienced ushers regarding protocols for serving as an usher at St. John's. All current and aspiring ushers are encouraged to attend. There will be a riveting presentation and plenty of donuts!
