Unity Sunday & New Hymnal Preview

Sunday, September 12
Due to COVID-related developments and uncertainties, we will hold Unity Sunday worship services in church at our standard times of 8:00 & 10:30 a.m. (no service Saturday night). Between services, please plan to join us at 9:15 a.m. in the church sanctuary as we preview and sing material from the new version of Christian Worship, the WELS hymnal scheduled for release later this fall.

Fall Bible Studies

Beginning Sunday, September 19
Our fall Bible studies kick off at 9:15 a.m. Chaplain Steve Stern leads our large-group class in the Fellowship Hall studying “A Punch in the Gut,” a look at how we as Christians cope with and respond to unexpected circumstances that can change our lives in an instant. Bible Information Class also meets at 9:15 a.m. in the St. Matthew's Room and supplies a solid understanding of what we confess and believe as a confessional Lutheran Church. Both members and non-members are encouraged to attend; click here to register.

Summer Bible Study

Sundays, August 22 & 29
Summer is coming to an end, and so is our Sunday morning Bible study. We’ll wrap up the summer with two more weeks of Q&A led by Pastor Schroeder. Mornings with Mommy

Beginning Thursday, September 9

Saturday, September 11
How do your cooking and baking skills compare with the Wauwatosa community? Whip up your best pot of chili and/or tray of cupcakes and enter the TosaFest Chili & Cupcake Challenge! Click here for more details and to enter. Rooted & Mowing Work Day

Sunday, August 29
The Rooted and Mowing team is always looking for volunteers to help with garden maintenance and keep the landscaping looking great. Our end-of-August workday starts at 1:00 p.m. and will last for about an hour. Please bring your own gardening gloves and tools. Praise & Proclaim Training

Friday & Saturday, September 24 & 25
Do you want to share the Gospel but don't know where to start? Does the thought of striking up a conversation about Jesus make you nervous? Let us help! Mark your calendars for a workshop from Praise & Proclaim Ministries, a WELS organization that trains members how to use a simplified approach to witnessing that is comfortable and non-threatening. Food Pantry

Saturday & Sunday, August 7 & 8
Your food pantry gifts are much appreciated by the families who rely on them. Canned meats/tuna and regular-sized boxes of cereal are especially needed. Please bring your gifts to the box in the narthex from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday or any time you are at church for worship. Monetary donations may be placed in the “Feeding America” box at any time. Make checks payable to St. John’s.
