Soles for Jesus

Did your children outgrow their shoes this summer? Are you cleaning out your closets for fall? Your donated shoes will change lives in Africa! Again, this year, we will be collecting gently used and new shoes (men's, women's and children's, all sizes) in October for Soles for Jesus. Collection boxes will be in the church narthex and at school beginning October 1. Please contact Yvonne Quint at 262.790.5716 or with questions.

Friends in Fellowship Outing

Tuesday, October 3 – Join us to tour the WELS Archives/Visitor Center and Synod building. The tour is 45-60 minutes and “senior friendly” with elevators and ample seating/rest areas. If interested, please contact Barbara Bergquist (414.476.2384) by Friday, September 29, so arrangements can be made for transportation/car-pooling. The plan is to depart at 10:30 AM from St. John’s church parking lot. Upon return from the tour, we will have a short meeting and lunch in the Fellowship Hall. Please bring your own lunch; dessert and coffee/tea will be provided. Looking forward to joining you in learning more about our Synod’s current and past history.

Celebration of Support Sunday

October 21 & 22 - As God supports us now and eternally through the life, death and resurrection of his Son, we have the high privilege of using our gifts and talents to support the work of the Gospel ministry he has entrusted to us. On the weekend of October 21 and 22, designated as our “Celebration of Support” Sunday, we will take the opportunity to consider the part each of us plays in the ministry we share at St. John’s.

Milwaukee Admirals Hockey Lutheran Night

Saturday, October 21 - Join our St. John's group and fellow Lutherans in celebration of the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation on Saturday, October 21, at 7:00 p.m. The Admirals will battle against the Rockford IceHogs while each Lutheran Night ticket will receive an exclusive Martin Luther Bobblehead! Martin Luther Hymn Festival

Sunday, October 1 – In this Reformation 500 year, three notable choirs are joining forces to celebrate Martin Luther’s legacy as poet and composer. Join the Wisconsin Lutheran College Choir, the Lutheran Chorale of Milwaukee, and the Seminary Chorus—200 voices accompanied by organist Aaron Christie and instruments—to sing and rejoice in 15 of Luther’s greatest and most enduring hymns. Concert is 7:30 PM at the Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary Auditorium in Mequon. Click here for more information.

New Bible Class begins Sunday, September 24

Join us for a new Bible study beginning Sunday! Taught by Professor Joel Otto, this class will examine some of Luther’s key theological emphases and note how they impacted the life of the church in areas like his translation of the Bible into the language of the people, education and his catechisms, worship, and the daily life of the Christian. Luther’s theological emphases, rooted in Scripture, continue to impact the life of the church today and the way we, as Lutheran Christians, live our faith in the face of 21st century challenges. Lutheran Women's Missionary Society Fall Rally

Ladies, join your sisters in Christ at the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society (LWMS) Fall Rally on Saturday, October 21st at Jordan Lutheran Church, 1642 S 77th St, West Allis.
