Greetings,

Today is the day for report cards!  Also included with the reports today are the MAP results from the fall testing.  Please check with your child and review how the year is going.  We look forward to meeting with each family for Parent-Teacher Conferences next week Wednesday and Thursday.  We would be happy to answer any questions you have on either report.  The schedule for conferences will be attached to today’s Chronicle.

Today is Reformation Day.  I want to encourage you to thank God in your personal prayers for church leaders like Martin Luther and then ask God that in the day your faith is challenged, you too will meet the challenge relying on God’s Word and Christ’s love.  One final thing, share your confidence with your children as part of your witness.

Our Girl’s Cross-Country team won the National Competition Meet!!!! WOW Great work girls and coaches.  Thanks for representing us so successfully.  In fact, thank you to all the coaches of our fall sports program.  We can offer our students so many choices because of your efforts and support.  THANK YOU!

Today, Wisco published their honor roll for the First Quarter.  We have 44 grads at WLHS and 27 of them (60%) made the honor roll.  Keep up the great work and thank the Lord for His blessings on you.

This Saturday is the Forensics competition for 7th and 8th graders.  Next week, I plan to share the impressive results of the efforts of our students.

Please keep Mr. Nate Schultz in your prayers as he deliberates the call we extended to be Principal next year.  Also, Mr. Keith Hackbarth has received a call to teach at our synod school in Neenah as their 6th grade teacher.  Please ask the Lord that he see where his service might best be used for God’s work.

Thank God for His Blessings,

~Mr. Uecker~

Greetings,

Last Tuesday night, our congregation called Mr. Nathan Schultz to be the principal of St. John’s in 2020.  Mr. Schultz is 37 years old and is currently serving in Hartford, WI as a vice-principal in our synod’s Principal Training Program.  He concludes that program this spring having earned his second master’s degree.  He is married and has three school aged children.  He has 14 years’ experience as a teacher/administrator.  Please include Mr. Schultz in your prayers.  Ask the Lord to meet his needs and ours through this call.

THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF CONFERENCES COMING UP!  DON’T GET CONFUSED.  Last week you received a request to schedule a Parent-Teacher Conference for the first week of November.  Please help us schedule your conference at a time that is most convenient for you.  We do want to meet with every parent!  The basis of the conferences will be the 1st Quarter report card that will come out Thursday, Oct. 31st and the information from the MAP testing for the students in grades 2-8.  Upper grade parents, you may request multiple teachers if you have concerns for a teacher other than the home room teacher, but you are not required to meet with each teacher.

Tomorrow and Friday (October 25 and26) are the days of State Teacher’s Conference so remember there is NO school those days.  St. John’s Childcare will be open.

Do you have some old shoes to get rid of?  YES, YOU DO!  Please stuff them in a plastic bag and drop them off in the box in the School Commons or by the Childcare entrance.

Thank God for His Blessings

TUESDAY NIGHT OCT. 15th CALL MEETING 6:30pm  Please plan to participate in this important meeting to call my replacement for next year.  There will be a discussion before the voting on who we should call and all are welcome to attend and speak.  We expect synod to supply about 5-6 choices based on the input from our Board of Education.

Would you open your house to an International Student for the second semester?  We have a male 7-8 grade student who has applied for whom we need housing.  He would arrive January 6th to start his studies here at St. John’s.  All expenses are covered by a monthly stipend of $900.  Students participate in after-school sports if your child does.  Please contact me for more information if you would consider this opportunity.

Is the Fall Festival on you calendar?  Enter October 20th 3pm. for an afternoon of fun and fellowship.

Greetings,

Congratulations to 13 students who participated in the Wisconsin Lutheran Principals' Conference Spelling Contest last Saturday.  Read the article below to see which 6 were in the top ten for their level.

I want to encourage you to consider the Scrip Program.  We are trying to increase the use of this opportunity to help pay for things that are not included in the budget.  The scrip cards are available any time from the school office.  This week please consider buying Krispy Kreme, Chile’s or Burger King.  You get breakfast, lunch and dinner!

The results are in and posted in the Commons hallway.  If you want to see who is physically fit, you may read the wall or click here.  Thanks to those parents who made our Presidential Physical Fitness day a success.  You were there so you know we could not do this without your volunteer help.  As is true in so many ways, parent participation makes us a better school. Thanks.

This week and next week are MAP testing (Measure of Academic Progress) weeks.  This testing process provides 3 check points each year to see how your child is progressing through grades 2-8.  It does not compare them to classmates, it compares their prior growth to their present level and sets goals for the next three months for the end of January testing.  Each test question is based on the success of answering the prior question, so the test adapts to each child’s abilities.  Please ask your child how they feel they are doing and encourage them to do their best.

Thank God for His Blessings

~Mr. Uecker~
