Greetings,

Did you remember that this is the last week for shorts to be worn to school?  October 1st we start covering knee caps.

Today is the end of the Mid Term. Reports are coming home today.  These informal reports are not part of any permanent record and are intended to let you know how things are going after the first weeks of school and before the report cards are issued four weeks from now.

Good luck and God's blessings to the 16 students who have been selected to participate in the Wisconsin Lutheran Principals' Conference Spelling Contest this Saturday, September 28th at 8:30am.

I want to encourage you to consider the Scrip Program.  We are trying to increase the use of this opportunity to help pay for things that are not included in the budget.  The scrip cards are available any time from the school office.  This week please consider buying Krispy Kreme, Chile’s or Burger King.  You get breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Special thank you to the families that donated the funds to allow us to recondition the gym floor and add digital monitors to the Commons area.  Your gifts help us improve our programs.

Thank God for His Blessings and the Opportunity to Share Them!

Greetings,

Thanks to those who took the time to donate blood through our program here at school this week.  It was a busy night at school, volleyball in the gym, blood donations in the Commons, and parents meeting for church Boards.

Sunday School started this past week during the Bible Class at church (9:15-10:15).  Please take advantage of this opportunity to share questions and information with other parents at Bible Class while your children do the same with their peers.

Kudos to Mrs. Dana Leyrer and Mrs. Christine Rindfleisch.  They are being recognized with Educator Impact Awards from WLHS for being chosen by the senior Volleyball students who graduated from St. John’s.  It’s gratifying to know that years after your students leave, you have made a difference.  CONGRATULATIONS LADIES!

This Friday is the end of the midterm.  Reports will come out next Thursday.  Have you signed into our online grading program, PowerSchool?  You may track your child’s progress through the year on this program.  Whenever you wonder how things are going academically for your child the answer is a couple of clicks away.  Bookmark the site, save the password and stay informed!  Your login information from last year should continue to work.  Need help to get connected?  Please email andrew.duncan@sjtosa.org for updated access.

The Principal’s Conference Spelling Bee invited 16 students from the 5th – 8th grade to represent St. John’s at the area Spelling Bee.  More information is in the links. Twenty percent of the students in those grades were at the top of the spellers in the whole conference!  EXCELLENT!

This week we continued our success in Volleyball, Cross Country Meets and in Soccer.  The trophies are on the way to filling the table in the Commons. GREAT WORK, THANK YOU!

See you Sunday for church!!!

Greetings,

Thanks for a successful Unity Sunday.  I hope you enjoyed the worship with over six hundred fellow Christians.

Sunday School starts this week during the Bible Class at church (9:15-10:15).  Please take advantage of this opportunity to share questions and information with other parents at Bible Class while your children do the same with their peers.

If you are a person who donates blood, please consider being here on Tuesday, Sept. 17th between 2-6:30.  We know there is always a need for donors, especially when hurricanes strike.  St. John’s provides this public service each year and we rely on the loving care of our Christian family to make the effort worthwhile.

Do you know anyone needing Childcare?  We have room so please invite them to tour our program.

We also had the first Cross Country Meet.  The Girls 4-8 grade team took first place.  Ana Buske was the fastest of our girls and the next five runners after Ana were our girls. The Boys 4-8 grade team took second place, Nate Close was the fastest runner on our team.

Congratulations to our girls' A volleyball team for winning the Quadrangular Tournament in Mukwonago last weekend.

GREAT WORK, THANK YOU!

~Enjoy the day~

Greetings,

Unity Sunday is the big thing for this week.  The school will be singing as part of the worship service and we hope you will be part of the unifying feeling on Sunday, September 8 at 9:00am.

We have some new faces.   Mrs. Marjorie Flanagan joins Mrs. Sarah Bortulin, together, teaching piano to about 65 of our students.  Mrs. Flanagan is very familiar with our program as she did offer some music special sessions some years ago while she was a teacher at WLHS.  Today, Mr. Bill Lambrecht begins teaching guitar to 10 of our students.  Mr. Lambrecht also teaches guitar at Pilgrim Lutheran in Menomonee Falls, Mr. Kriese’s former school.  Our thanks for great work go out to Grace Rindfleisch and Libby Edelmeyer as they leave to begin college or alternate employment.

Do you know anyone needing Childcare?  We have room so please invite them to tour our program.

If you attended St. John’s for church on Sunday, you heard that I will retire at the end of this school year.  This year will conclude my 46th year working with God’s children and their families; 6 years in Toledo, OH, 21 years at Waukesha, WI, and 19 years here in Wauwatosa.  In each of these ministries I was the principal and a teacher.  My service in each location has been blessed by God and a joy for me.  I thank God and you for these last years here.

See you Sunday for church at 9:00!!!!
