Sundays through April 14
This class, taught by Rev. Dr. John Lawrenz in the Fellowship Hall, explores the spiritual fabric of ancient Israel during the time of the judges. Three hundred years after Moses and Joshua, the people wanted a king like the nations around them. Again and again the people forsook God their king to follow other gods. God sent enemies to humble the nation, and then he sent saviors called judges. For a time these judges brought rest, but their quality and effectiveness declined until there was no longer true rest. The period ends with the Lord keeping his promises to Abraham nevertheless.  The Lord gave Israel King David, a man after God's own heart. To David the Lord promised the greatest king of all, the God/man Jesus.
