Pastor Kyle Bitter was born in Milwaukee, WI. His family moved to Syracuse, NY when he was two years old; to Zion, IL, when he was in fourth grade; and to Rochester, MN when he was a freshman in high school. Pastor Bitter attended Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, WI, graduating in 2003 and Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN, graduating in 2007. He continued his ministry studies at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI, graduating in 2011.
Upon graduating from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Pastor Bitter was assigned to a two year position as a teacher, dormitory supervisor, and coach at Luther Preparatory School. Following service at LPS, he was re-assigned to St. John’s, Wauwatosa, WI and began serving in July 2013.
Pastor Bitter currently serves as the outreach pastor at St. John’s. He is responsible for evangelism and outreach to the congregation and the community, leads the annual teen mission trip, and oversees new member assimilation programs. He also serves in the area of worship, taking primary responsibility for planning weekly and special services. Although his ministry extends throughout all areas of the congregation, Pastor Bitter works primarily with the Board of Outreach and the Worship & Service and Communications Committees. He also coaches cross country and track at St. John’s Lutheran School.
Pastor Bitter has three younger brothers. He has played piano since first grade and organ since high school, periodically playing for worship services at St. John’s. He enjoys playing, watching, and coaching sports and spending time outdoors enjoying God's creation.
As a church leader, Pastor Bitter considers it a blessing to be involved on a daily basis in service to the congregation and spreading God’s Word. He enjoys the wide variety of talented people that he is privileged to work alongside in ministry at St. John's and the wide variety of activities that make up a day in a pastor's life. His vision and prayer for St. John’s is that we continue faithfully proclaiming God’s Word to our community and to our people.
