Pastor Joel Schwartz grew up in Prairie du Chien, WI. He attended Luther Preparatory School in Watertown, WI, graduating in 2000, and Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN, graduating in 2004. He then continued his ministry studies at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI, graduating in 2008.

Upon graduating from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Pastor Schwartz was assigned to Peace Lutheran Church in Holiday, FL (now located in Trinity, FL). He accepted the call to St. John's in October 2022. 

Pastor Schwartz serves as the outreach and youth pastor at St. John's. In the area of outreach, his work encompasses outreach to the Wauwatosa community at large as well as non-member families at St. John's School and Early Learning Center. And in the area of teen ministry, Pastor Schwartz oversees monthly teen events, numerous teen volunteer opportunities, and the yearly teen mission trip. Although his ministry extends through all areas of the congregation, he works primarily with the Board of Outreach.

Pastor Schwartz has been married to his wife, Bethany, since 2005. They have been blessed with three children: Elise, Tyler, and Natalie. In their spare time, the Schwartz family enjoys being outdoors, including camping and hiking. Pastor Schwartz also enjoys coaching kids' sports, biking, and golfing.

Carrying out Gospel ministry is a privilege wherever one serves, and Pastor Schwartz is excited to engage in Gospel ministry at St. John's. He is looking forward to being part of a ministry team in a larger church setting. Pastor schwartz is also eager to get to know God's people at St. John's and seeing the unique gifts the Holy Spirit has given for ministry in our unique setting.
